About Accessible ICT Procurement

The University’s commitment to digital accessibility extends to third-party products procured for use in the delivery of services, programs, and activities of the University with limited exception. In accordance with the University’s Information and Communication (ICT) Accessibility Policy, any ICT product considered for procurement or renewal must undergo accessibility testing and review by the Accessibility Assessment Committee (AAC).

Accessibility Testing

The ITS Digital Accessibility Services (DAS) team has partnered with Allyant to conduct accessibility testing of any ICT product considered for procurement. Additionally, any existing ICT product up for renewal must also be tested. Accessibility testing is provided free of charge to all schools, colleges, and departments. Requesting units are encouraged to initiate accessibility testing in the early stages of the procurement process. If accessibility testing results show that the product is not accessible, the requesting unit should search for a different more accessible product that meets their needs. Units should contact their Digital Accessibility Liaison to initiate accessibility testing with Allyant.

Accessibility Assessment Committee

With few exceptions, all new and renewed ICT products must be approved by the Accessibility Assessment Committee (AAC) prior to purchase. Requesting units will need to provide the AAC with details about the product including its intended use and the vendor’s capacity to build accessible products. Furthermore, vendors responding to a Request for Proposal (RFP) will need to complete the Accessibility Questionnaire. Finally, all vendors must accept and agree to the University’s accessibility requirements in the contractual agreement.
